FFF is a woman-owned micro farm modeled after European market gardens. The farm grows a diverse range of annual and perennial crops. Using intensive crop rotation, the farm grows all of its annual produce in over 80 permanent beds that have a total growing area of about 1/2 acre, with perennial crops throughout the property.
Boasting a catalogue of over 40 crops and more than a hundred different varieties, the farm not only grows the standard market vegetables, but also produces or forages a suite of unique crops including shiitake mushrooms, wild ramps, milkweed pods, ground cherries, specialty salad greens, and uncommon varieties of typical market vegetables.
Nourishing people, improving soil health, connecting people to food, and creating community are the guiding principles of the farm. The farm’s practices are of the highest standards, and are devised with the health of people, plants, the soil, and the local habitat in mind.
FFF is not certified by any governing body, but utilizes practices in line with the USDA’s organic standards. Further, the farm is dedicated to growing in the soil and cultivating with low-till, sustainable practices to improve the health of the soil and surrounding ecosystems, and to grow the most flavorful and nutritious food possible.
We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. Despite these efforts, the quantity of produce may vary from week to week and season to season due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members.
Flex Share:
Opting for a Flex Share means you’ll never have to take home a vegetable that you won’t eat. All flex shares allow you to choose which produce fulfills your weekly share. Each week members choose from a selection of 15-30 crops, or items, to fulfill their shares.
Pre-Packed Shares:
Choosing a Pre-Packed Share allows you to grab and go from one of two locations. Your share will consist of a farmers' choice selection of the freshest vegetables, items will be rotated each week to ensure you experience the full range of the farm's produce.
An ‘item’ typically consists of a head, a bunch, a quart (i.e. a bunch of chard, a head of lettuce, a bag of salad, or a quart of carrots). Shares are priced based on most items costing $4 to $5 per item. For this reason there are some items, like herb bunches or garlic heads ($2 per bunch/head), that will count as half of one of your items. You are welcome to mix and match these half items to fulfill your weekly number of items. Conversely, some items are valued well above average and one unit will count as two of your weekly items. One such item is potato quarts sold for $8. Potatoes are very time, labor, and space intensive and are priced accordingly so that it makes sense for my business to invest these resources in their production.
The following is a list of some of the produce we expect during the year. This list is not all-inclusive, as we grow many different types of vegetables and it is based on our best estimate. Weather, pests, and other events will affect actual production and thus the variety and quantity of produce provided.
Spring: arugula, beets, bok choy, carrots, chard, garlic scapes, herbs, kale, head lettuce, mixed baby greens, peas, radishes, rhubarb, salad turnips, scallions, spinach.
Summer: In addition to many of the crops available in spring, beans, broccoli, cucumbers, eggplant, fennel, garlic, ground cherries, onions, peppers (hot & sweet), potatoes, summer squash, tomatoes, and zucchini.
Fall: Many summer crops will continue for a time and cold loving greens will return, carrots, kale, leeks, lettuce, onions, potatoes, radishes, turnips, watermelon radish, and winter squash.
There are three separate CSA seasons in 2026 that you may sign up for individually or all at once for a discount!
Spring Share (June 5th/6th - July 10th/11th, 6 weeks) will feature a gorgeous selection of early greens and salad toppings. A welcome flush of flavor and color is just what we need to break out of the winter season and celebrate the return of fresh, local eating. Please note that the spring season is now starting two weeks later than last year. The farm will still be in attendance at the Homer Regional Farmers Market on May 23rd and 30th and you are encouraged to come visit us and stock up on the earliest fresh greens!
Summer Share (July 24th/25th - Sept. 11th12th, 8 weeks) showcases the quintessential tastes of summer. Greens and salad fixings won't stop and they'll be joined by the tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, cucumber and more that we've been dreaming of since last fall.
Fall Share (Sept. 25th/26th - Oct. 30th/31st, 6 weeks) is all about bounty. The fruits of summer still abound and the slow growing winter squash and cool season crops begin to shine, ready to fill your plates and become stockpiles for the winter ahead. Please note that the fall season is now ending two weeks earlier than last year. If you are a Fall CSA member, you are automatically put on the waitlist for and will have first dibs for a Seasonal Harvest Box the week before Thanksgiving if they are available which will be dependent on the success of storage crops this season.
Please note there are two weeks when the farm will be on break that fall between the three CSA seasons and there will be no CSA Pickup or Farmers Market attendance: July 17th/18th, Sept. 18th/19th.
Members are responsible for picking up shares each week.

Members are responsible for picking up their share each week.
There are a few options for pickup each week:
Pre-Packed Shares only:
Crescent Commons, lobby area: Fridays, 2pm-6pm
OR
Freetown Food Forest, Fridays 2pm-6pm
Flex Shares only:
Homer Regional Farmers Market: Saturdays, 9:30am-12:30pm
When signing up, members choose where they will pick up each week for the duration of the season. Members may permanently change their pickup location during the season with a one week prior notification.
For best selection as a Flex Share member, shop early during market hours. Items are first come, first serve. Members will need to bring a bag, box, or cooler to carry their share home in.
If a member is unable to pick up their share and let us know early in the week and they will have a few options:
Switch the pick up day and location. Requires 48 hour notice.
Send a friend or family member in their place. Let us know the name of the person being sent.
Double up the previous or following week, or take a share and a half for the next two weeks.
Donate the share to Seven Valleys Health Coalition Food Rescue. FFF will make sure it gets to them.
In case of inclement weather, an alternative will be offered. The alternative may be picking up at the other market, having a farmer selected share pre-packed for your pickup at the farm, or holding a market pickup at a TBD time, date, and location. The alternatives offered will be dependent on the circumstances and will be determined by FFF as needed.
For your safety and that of others, always adhere to local laws and ordinances, and any regulations of the market/pickup site to prevent injury to persons or property. Any fines, fees, or damages determined to be a member’s fault will be the sole responsibility of the member.
Shares are available on a first come, first serve basis and are limited in availability. Payment for the share is what secures a membership. If you’ve expressed interest, but not made payment within 7 calendar days of receiving your invoice, your spot will be passed on. If interest exceeds available shares, a waitlist will be created.
The farm accepts and prefers checks by mail, or cash in person. Credit cards will be accepted with a 4% fee passed on to you (we don’t love this, but need to retain what are already slim profits).
NOW ACCEPTING SNAP FOR CSA: Due to the restrictions of when and how a farm can take SNAP payments, you will not be required to pay in full upfront with your benefits. Instead, the farm will ask for a fully refundable 25% deposit made with non-SNAP funds to secure your commitment to the CSA program. This will be returned to you at the successful completion of your CSA commitment. Although you would not be paying up front for the season, you are still expected to commit to weekly pickups. Should you decide to quit the program, your 25% deposit will be surrendered. You are responsible for ensuring that funds are available for CSA payment. If funds are not available, you may opt to forfeit that week’s share or pay with non-SNAP funds. If you forfeit multiple shares during your commitment, the farm reserves the right to terminate your membership.
All shares require prepayment. FFF prefers payment in full, but if that would be difficult for you, we can establish a payment plan that would require a 25% non-refundable deposit, with the next installment due on a monthly basis. Failure to make any payment will terminate your CSA membership, and you will receive no refunds of any money paid.
By selling membership in advance of the growing season, CSA reduces the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with capital to purchase seed and equipment before the season starts, and we appreciate your commitment.
CSA shares, because of their inherent risk, are non-refundable. If you find your membership anything but enjoyable, please reach out so that concerns can be addressed. If in the first two weeks you truly do not enjoy CSA and cannot be convinced to stay, we will give a prorated refund minus a $75 administrative fee.
We feel strongly that everyone should have access to the nutritious food that we grow at FFF and we will work with those in financial need to make this possible.
In addition to offering payment plans for those on limited budgets, we provide subsidized shares through the Seven Valleys Health Coalition Prescription Rx program and donate to Seven Valleys Food Rescue. Information on those programs can be found on their website.
If you or someone you know is in need of food, please reach out and we can work with our Free Food Fund or our many local resources to help. If anyone finds themselves in a place of financial abundance and would like to contribute to the Free Food Fund to help get food into the hands and homes of all, we welcome you to reach out as well.
The best way to communicate with FFF is via email at karlyn@freetownfoodforest.com If you prefer to call, our phone is 607-423-5087. We will do our best to respond within 24 hours. Please contact us with any news of the following: changes to your postal or email address, any week(s) you are unable to pick up your share, dissatisfaction with your share, or anything else you would like us to know.
We will communicate with you by email. When you sign up, you will be added to our distribution list, which we will use to communicate important information about our CSA and relevant farm information. Every week, we will email a crop availability list for flex members picking up at market, anticipated items in the prepacked shares, and anything of note going on at the farm. Returning members, please note that this year’s weekly email will be much more brief.
We share a lot of spontaneous things on our social media as well and encourage you to follow us on Instagram and Facebook. This is also a great way to help support and share info about YOUR farm.
